Learn More About KAP

Who Can Benefit from KAP?

KAP has been shown to help individuals struggling with:

✔️ Treatment-resistant depression
✔️ Anxiety disorders
✔️ PTSD and complex trauma
✔️ Relationship trauma and attachment wounds

If traditional therapy and medication haven’t brought the relief you’re seeking, KAP may offer a new pathway to healing.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a legal, safe, and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

How Ketamine Works:

  • Has rapidly-acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects
  • Effects can begin within 1-2 hours after treatment
  • Benefits can last up to 2 weeks
  • Works by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors and stimulating AMPA receptors
  • Helps form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood
  • Enhances overall neuroplasticity for lasting symptom improvement

Administration Method:
At Life Counseling Solutions, we use sublingual lozenges in partnership with Journey Clinical (self-administered under therapeutic supervision).

What Does Ketamine Feel Like?

The effects of ketamine, which most patients find pleasant, last for approximately 45 minutes. These effects can make you feel “far from” your body and facilitate shifts in perception that often feel expansive in nature.

During the Experience:

  • You’ll be in a comfortable, reclining position
  • Your motor and verbal abilities will be temporarily reduced
  • You may wear an eye mask and listen to calming music
  • Dr. Lacy or Melissa will be present the entire time to hold space and provide support

After the Experience:

  • We’ll spend time processing and discussing your experience
  • Insights gained during the session often feel clear, even if difficult to articulate
  • Benefits to mood and neurological growth can last up to two weeks

How Does the KAP Process Work?

Step 1: Initial Consultation with Journey Clinical

You’ll schedule an initial evaluation with a clinician from Journey Clinical’s medical team via Zoom. They will:

  • Review your medical and psychiatric history
  • Provide education on the treatment
  • Determine if you are eligible for KAP
  • Develop a personalized ketamine prescription and outcome monitoring plan

Journey Clinical Medical Intake Cost:
  • Consultation: $250
  • Non-covered services (including medication): $112
  • Total Initial Intake: $362

If eligible, Journey Clinical will prescribe ketamine lozenges and send them to your home (enough for the first 2 KAP sessions). You’ll be taught to take your vitals and self-administer the lozenges by Journey Clinical’s medical team.
