It is Cherlette’s belief that counseling should be tailored to the needs of the client and is passionate about working with a variety of different people with various concerns. She is married and has three amazing step children ages 15, 12 and 9. Cherlette is a fitness enthusiast and most recently lost 113 pounds. Cherlette is passionate about working with Couples, Blended Families, and Pre-Post Bariatric Surgery patients.

Education and Experience

Cherlette is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She attended Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. After receiving her Bachelors, she decided to continue pursuing her passion for helping people. Cherlette then went on to attend Webster University and earned her Masters of Art in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2007. Cherlette has attended numerous trainings including but not limited to Sand tray/Play therapy training, Prepare/Enrich Marital training, Solution-Focus trainings.

After graduation, Cherlette began a career with the State of Florida Children and Families Services in Child Welfare, working with families of abused children for 12 years. This career helped develop the skills needed to communicate and help families in crisis/need.  She also has experience counseling elder adults and people in caregiver roles of the elderly with mental healthy diagnoses of Dementia, Alzheimer’s and other cognitive impairments.

Therapeutic Approach

Cherlette combines person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, Solution-Focus, brief therapy along with other theoretical models as needed. Cherlette is a realistic and compassionate person who believes that counseling should be tailored to the needs of the client. Her goal is to help you explore the negative beliefs that are keeping you stuck and no longer beneficial. Cherlette will help you replace them with positive beliefs that will help you move towards growth and your desired change.
